Free Youth Climbing Session!

Youths 17 and under are invited to climb free with us on Sunday, February 10, from 8 am to 11 am. We’ll even provide free rental shoes (as long as supplies last). In the event we run out of rental shoes, please wear clean athletic shoes so we can keep our mats and walls looking great. Shoes that are dirty or non-athletic, as well as bare or stocking feet, are not allowed.

NOTES: (1) Parents or guardians of participating youth are welcome to climb, provided they purchase a day pass and rental shoes (if they don’t have their own shoes). (2) Given this event, we’ll be (a) closing the gym to members and guests who are not with participating youths from 8 am to 11 am, (b) closing the gym from 11 to 11:30 am to tidy up, (c) then reopening for members and guests at 11:30 am.

USA Climbing Youth Bouldering Divisional Championships

The Boulder Field is proud to be hosting the 2019 USA Climbing Youth Divisional Bouldering Championship on January 12th & 13th.

This event will showcase some of the most talented youth climbers in Division 2 which includes Northern California, Southern California and Nevada.  Climbers will be competing in this event to earn the chance to compete in the Youth National Championships which are scheduled for February 8th - 10th, 2019 in Redmond, OR.

The gym will closed for climbing on Jan. 12th - 13th unless you are a competitor.  However, the gym is open for free spectating!

An up-to-date waiver is required for EVERYONE entering the facility.  If this is your first visit to The Boulder Field, please make sure to fill out a waiver here:

Competitors, Coaches, and anyone else associated with the competition, are not allowed in The Boulder Field on Jan 7th -11th.

Wall Closures

Due to our route setting schedule for the event, Sections 6 - 15 will be closed to climbing from January 7th - January 13th.

Parking

Parking areas allowed and encouraged in the areas highlighted in green. Additional parking can be found on the street and in neighboring lots. We don’t anticipate having any parking issues during the event and if you have specific questions about where you can park please ask our Front Desk staff.

Coffee and Drinks

Our in house Cafe serves espresso and coffee drinks from local favorite Temple Coffee as well as local beer and kombucha on tap.

Food

Hefty Gyros is one of the highest ranked food trucks in Sacramento and will be on sight during the following hours:

Saturday 1/19 - 10am to 6pm

Sunday 1/20 - 10am to 3pm

Additionally we have a small selection of bars and snacks at our in house Cafe.

The Gathering

The Gathering

On Friday, October 19, 2018, The Boulder Field hosted its 1st Annual “The Gathering”, a red-point bouldering competition. The event featured a live DJ, a food truck with tasty Mexican fare, and thousands of dollars of great prizes for five climbing categories. With nearly 200 competitors and hundreds of spectators, the event was a huge success.

Global Climbing Day

On August 18th, 2018, The Boulder Field hosted Global Climbing Day. The event, promoted by The North Face, is a global initiative to introduce people to climbing with free climbing at gyms across the World. The Boulder Field also held a dyno competition during the event with prizes given out to winners in both the men’s and women’s categories.
